Moldova blasts Transdniestrian exercises in security zone

Moldova has demanded an investigation into the recent Transdniestrian military exercises in the security zone. The Joint Control Commission (JCC) for the Transdniestrian Settlement discussed the issue on October 18 by the demand of Chisinau, Moldovan representative to the JCC Ion Lahu told Interfax. The combined peacekeeping command has confirmed that Tiraspol special task units had military exercises. They crossed the Dniester River and entered the security zone, he said. "The combined military command discussed the issue after a Moldovan commander had presented video evidence of the numerous violations of the security regime by Transdniestrian special task forces. The command agreed that the security regime had been breached. We think that the JCC should make an official statement," Lahu said.
