Bilateral trade between Romania and the Republic of Moldova jumped 60% in the first 8months of this year compared to the similar period last year and till 2008-end it is estimated to attain the value of one billion euros, prime vice-prime minister for Economy and Trade of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon told.
The Ministry of Economy and Trade in the Republic of Moldova's official and the Romanian Minister for SMEs, Trade, Tourism and Liberal Professions Ovidiu Silaghi have signed on October 23 the Protocol of the fourth Session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission for the Economic Cooperation and European Integration between Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
"Romania has become the main partner of the Republic of Moldova for exports, with a surge above 80% in the first eight months of the year", said Igor Dodon.
According to Romanian side statistical data, after the first 8 months of the year, bilateral trade showed the value of 822 million dollars, of which Romanian exports - 567.4 million dollars and imports from the Republic of Moldova - 254.6 million dollars. Compared to the similar period in 2007, the commercial exchanges level saw a 55.6% hike, the Romanian exports rising by 49.8% and imports by 70.1%, stipulates the Protocol.
According to the Republic of Moldova's statistical data, in the first eight months of 2008 the bilateral trade level attained the value of 641.2 million dollars, of which Moldovan exports of 226 million dollars and imports from Romania of 415.2 million dollars. As against the same period of 2007, exports to Romania advanced 78.1% and imports from Romania jumped 59.9%, shows the Protocol.
The two sides representatives underlined that the Protocol was focused on the energy infrastructure and customs transit as main fields of interest.
