Top political advisor: China eyes cooperation boost with Moldova

China will work with Moldova to expand bilateral cooperation to a higher level, push forward the traditional friendship and bring concrete benefits to the two peoples, said top political advisor Jia Qinglin here on Thursday.

At a meeting with the Chairman of the Moldovan Parliament Marian Lupu, Jia, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee chairman, highlighted the bilateral cooperation in fields such as trade, science and technology, culture and education.

He noted China would always respect the Moldovan people's choice for their own national development. He also expressed his appreciation for Moldova's support for China on issues such as Taiwan and Tibet.

China and the Eastern European nation established diplomatic ties in 1992.

Jia also voiced the CPPCC commitment to step up exchange and cooperation with the Moldovan parliament, calling on the two to learn from each other and make contribution to help promote bilateral relations.

Lupu, who is here on an official goodwill visit, reiterated Moldova would always adhere to the one-China policy, comprehensively boost bilateral ties with China and carry out further cooperation. BEIJING, Oct. 23 (Xinhua)
