The European Commission is supplying a 1.6 MEURO X-ray scanning system for the Moldovan Customs Service for Mobile Inspection and Screening through the regional Project 2008/ 162079: "Supply of Mobile Inspection and Screening X-ray Scanning Systems for State Customs Services of Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova"
The X-ray scanning system is dispatched at Mamaliga – Criva Customs Inspection Point by Rapiscan Systems, UK, but will be used at other border crossings points as well.
Within the same Project 30 Moldovan customs officers will receive appropriate training including set of manuals and corresponding software.
The X-ray scanning system will be used to detect illicit trafficking of goods crossing the borderof the Republic of Moldova, by scanning the trucks at Customs Inspection Points
