Moldovan authorities plan to expel three Romanian reporters after Communist President Vladimir Voronin accused Bucharest of trying to overthrow his government, Russia's RIA news agency reported Thursday.
RIA quoted an unidentified person in Moldovan secret services as saying the reporters had been involved in "activities incompatible" with national law.
Voronin, Europe's only Communist president, has blamed European Union and NATO member Romania for stoking violent protests against his party's victory in Sunday's parliamentary election.
He ordered the expulsion of the Romanian ambassador on Wednesday and the introduction of visas for Romanians.
Moldova's former Soviet master Russia has backed Voronin's allegation of foreign interference, but Romania has rejected his claims.
Moldova, wedged between Ukraine and Romania on the edge of the EU, is in what Russia sees as its sphere of influence.
