Medvedev concerned over situation with Russian language in Moldova

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has expressed concern over the situation with the Russian language in Moldova.

"The Russian language space shrank during the period of parliamentary election," Medvedev stated at the European and Asian mass media forum.

"Hopefully, the authorities will show greater tolerance for the interests of their population and will not take artificial solutions, in order not to narrow the potential of communication between our peoples, nor dismantle the mechanism of communication within their own country," Medvedev said.

He confirmed that Russia would continue to support the Russian language press in other countries.

"I see in it no interference in internal affairs of other states," the president noted, "We intend to act strictly within the framework of the legislation of these countries. National legislation should be respected; it's normal and acceptable," the head of state underlined.
