The European Union has released the third 6 million EUR tranche to the Republic of Moldova within the Social Sector Budget Support. The Programme, valued at 21 million EUR, has been implemented during 2007 - 2009.
The main objective of this Sector Policy Support Programme was to assist the Government of Moldova in the design and the implementation of sound macro-economic policies as well as of a social assistance policy addressing the issue of extreme poverty in an effective and efficient manner. In addition to this budget support operation other programmes, the Health Sector Policy Support (46.6 million EUR) and the Water Sector Policy Support (45 million EUR), are currently being implemented by the Government of Moldova with the support provided by the European Union.
