Romanian National Defence Minister Gabriel Oprea on Monday welcomed the initiative of his Moldovan counterpart Vitalie Marinuta to create a joint battalion, and the two sides appreciated that this initiative could be a real support for the improvement of relationships between the two countries.
''We are welcoming your proposal to establish a Romanian-Moldovan joint battalion, especially because the Romanian Army acquired a valuable experience in this field through the activities carried out within the Romanian-Hungarian joint battalion and within the Tisa Romanian-Hungarian-Slovakian-Ukrainian engineer multinational battalion," said the Romanian Defence Minister.
Gabriel Oprea on Monday met Moldovan Defence Minister Vitalie Marinuta, who is paying a two-day official visit to Romania, accompanied by a military delegation.
Minister Oprea appreciated at the beginning of the meeting that now we had the prerequisites for the reconstruction of a sustainable relationship based on mutual ''trust," ''solidarity'' and ''aspirations'' after a period when bilateral cooperation relationships were put to the test.AGERPRES
