Sen. Corlatean wants ratification of financial assistance agreement with Moldova to be sped up

Chairman of the Romanian Senate's Committee on Foreign Affairs Titus Corlatean of the opposition Social Democratic Party (PSD) said on Wednesday, at the end of a meeting with Moldova's ambassador in Bucharest Iurie Renita, that he is for the speeding up of the ratification of an inter-governmental agreement under which Moldova is to receive 100 million euros in non-returnable financial assistance from the Romanian Government for economic development.

'The Foreign Affairs Committee as well as the entire Parliament will extend full support for the ratification and adoption of the financial assistance agreement under which the 100 million euros promised by the Romanian Government to bolster the economic development efforts of Moldova will be allocated. I will call on the Romanian Government, the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Finance Ministry to speed up the draft law in Government and send it to Parliament for approval,' said Corlatean.

Corlatean said Moldova's accession to the European Union was also discussed at his meeting with Renita and Romania's support for this process was reiterated. AGERPRES
