European Commissioner Štefan Füle, responsible for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy is on a visit to Chisinau to attend the 3rd informal Meeting of the Group for the European Action of the Republic of Moldova.
Commisioner Štefan Füle, and Vlad Filat, Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova have today signed a Protocol to the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Communities and their member states and the Republic of Moldova. The Protocol concerns a framework Agreement between the EU and the Republic of Moldova on the general principles for the participation of the latter in Union Programmes.
The Protocol will enable Moldova to participate in seven Union programmes. These programmes are: Customs 2013; Competiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) - Intelligent Energy Europe; CIP - Entrepreneurship and Innovation; CIP - ICT Policy Support; Consumer Policy; SESAR and Health. A Memorandum of Understanding will be signed on the specific terms and conditions of participation before proceeding to each separate programme.
The European Parliament (EP) shall be requested to give its consent to the conclusion of this Protocol. The relevant EP committee has yesterday recommended by unanimity the conclusion of the Protocol.
