Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) CEO Daniel Yohannes will visit Moldova from October 17-19 to inaugurate the MCC Compact, which was signed between the U.S. and Moldova in January 2010 and the entry into force of the Compact on September 1, 2010.
During his visit, Mr. Yohannes will meet with Moldovan government officials, civic and business leaders, and the implementing partners of the MCC Compact in Moldova. Additionally, on Monday, October 18, Mr. Yohannes will tour an irrigation project in Slobozia-Dusca. The rehabilitation of the irrigation facilities in Slobozia-Dusca is one of the first activities authorized under the terms of the MCC Compact.
The MCC Compact is a $262 million assistance package offered to Moldova to develop road infrastructure, refurbish irrigation systems, and stimulate the transition to high value agriculture in farming communities throughout Moldova with the goal of reducing poverty through economic growth.
