THE CEREMONY OF PRESENTING OF NEW EQUIPMENT IN National Museum of Archaeology and History of Moldova

The Government of Japan has extended financial assistance in amount of up to USD 81,562 for the Project for Improvement of Equipment for Exhibition and Restoration of National Museum of Archaeology and History of Moldova.

This project is the first project in Moldova, implemented under the scheme of the Grant Aid for Cultural Grassroots Projects. According to the grant contract, equipment such as show-cases, LCD TV sets, DVD players, computer, projector, restoration laboratory equipment for wooden and metal articles was provided to the Museum. This grant enabled the Museum to enhance the quality of service to the visitors, as well as to enhance the quality of restoration of the Museum exhibits.

On October 27, H. E. Tadashi IZAWA, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Moldova will present new equipment to the authorized representatives of the Museum.

Grant Aid for Cultural Grassroots Projects, just like Cultural Grant Aid, is a part of Japan's Official Development Assistance to Moldova aiming at supporting cultural and educational activities, preserving historical and cultural heritage. But differing from Cultural Grand Aid, Grant Aid for Cultural Grassroots Projects is a small-size grant, which supports projects of such organizations, as local public bodies, NGOs and other non-profit organizations.

Since 2001 Japan has provide over a million USD in aid to educational and cultural institutions. This grant aid is a part of Japan's Official Development Assistance to the Republic of Moldova. Apart from these grants, Japan has provided so far grant aid to the Republic of Moldova either on bilateral or multilateral bases in the amount of approximately USD 72.7 million.
