The Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova is pleased that, following the pre-term parliamentary elections of 28 November 2010, the new Parliament of the Republic of Moldova has constituted itself on 28 December 2010 and that Marian Lupu has been elected by this new Parliament as its new Speaker.
The Delegation of the EU to the Republic of Moldova would like to congratulate Marian Lupu on his new and responsible position and wishes him luck in skilfully steering the Moldovan Parliament at all times.
This is a further step in the democratic development that the Republic of Moldova has embarked on since the previous pre-term parliamentary elections of 29 July 2009.
The Delegation of the EU to the Republic of Moldova is also informed that on 30 December 2010 the negotiations on a new coalition government have been finalised. It expresses the hope that the renewed Alliance for European Integration can soon be approved by Parliament in order to continue the progress achieved so far on the path to economic integration and political association of the Republic of Moldova with the EU
The EU is looking forward to continuing our intensive cooperation established over the last 15 months.
