President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek has welcomed the approval of the new government in Moldova, expressing the hope that it would bring stability to the country.
"I welcome the approval of the Moldovan government by the Moldovan Parliament, and I look forward to receiving Prime Minister Filat in Brussels in the beginning of February," he said in a statement. "I trust that the government of the Alliance for European Integration will bring much needed political stability for the country and I salute the resolve of all three coalition partners to work together towards the common goal of democratic, stable and prosperous Moldova."
He underlined the need for continued reforms and encouraged all political players to find a resolution to the constitutional deadlock and successfully elect the President of the Republic. He said the European Union was strongly committed to Moldova: "We salute the progress that has been achieved in the last year and a half.
