Ashton and Moldovan PM discuss ways out of institutional deadlock

EU-Moldova relations and the importance of finding a solution to the current institutional deadlock in the country were discussed in a meeting between EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton and Moldova Prime Minister Vladimir Filat.

"Moldova needs functioning institutions to realise its ambitions as a European country," a press release quoted her as saying.   She added: "The innovative and ambitious Association Agreement that we are negotiating will bring the EU and Moldova closer to each other through political association and economic integration. We share a common vision about the necessary reforms which are critical to ensure Moldova's prosperity and stability in the long term."   She concluded that the EU would continue to support Moldova in its reform efforts.
