The first national sustainable energy conference to take place in Chisinau

The National Conference "Sustainable Energy for Business Community" is organized at the initiative of the EBRD Business Advisory Services Moldova, with the financial support of Government of Sweden. Its aim is to raise the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)' awareness on energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy in Moldova, promote the benefits of efficient use of energy resources and the existing SMEs' financing instruments. The Conference will take place on 1 June 2011.

The EBRD Business Advisory Services Moldova is inviting the Moldovan business community to participate in the National Conference "Sustainable Energy for Business Community" where presentations will be held on behalf of representatives of the Government of Moldova, EBRD, MoSEFF, Swedish Embassy, EU Delegation, SMEs, and others.

"One of the Conference's objectives is to encourage the efficient use of energy resources by local enterprises and to familiarize the business community with the economic advantages of sustainable energy as a key factor to attain business competitiveness growth. Therefore, we highly encourage the entrepreneurs to participate at the Conference and to learn more about the state policy, available financial instruments and success stories of local SME's, which invested in energy efficiency", said Veronica Arpintin, Manager of the EBRD Business Advisory Services Moldova.

Companies interested to participate in the National Conference "Sustainable Energy for Business Community" are invited to contact the EBRD Business Advisory Services Moldova on participants' registration and additional details or visit www.bas.md. The participation is free of charge.

The EBRD Business Advisory Services Moldova provides assistance to Moldovan SMEs in identifying and defining the business needs of the enterprises, cooperation in selecting the most effective local consultants to address specific business issues faced by the enterprises, and grants to co-finance consultancy projects.

Since the beginning of its activity in Moldova in 2005, BAS has supported app. 300 Moldovan SMEs operating in various sectors of economy such as agriculture, food processing, IT, retail/wholesale trading, and apparel industry. BAS Moldova is supporting Moldovan companies by covering up to 70 percent of the consultancy project costs, with a limit of €10,000. The total value of BAS assistance to Moldovan companies is close to €1.4 million.

Currently the BAS Moldova is focusing on promoting the implementation of energy efficiency projects (with Sweden Government support), improving business competitiveness in rural areas and encouraging women entrepreneurs.
