Today, U.S. Ambassador Asif J. Chaudhry, Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat, and Acting Director of the USAID Regional Mission for Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus Robin Phillips signed an assistance agreement of up to $10 million to support justice sector reforms in Moldova.
The signing of this agreement underscores the United States' commitment to support Moldovan efforts to implement necessary reforms within the justice sector, including strengthening the institutional capacity, transparency, and accountability of the judiciary to guarantee its independence and increase its effectiveness and professionalism.
USAID, in conjunction with the Government of Moldova and domestic and international partners, will coordinate the implementation of all activities under this agreement.
