OSCE Mission to host high-level meeting of expert working groups of the sides to the Transdniestrian conflict

OSCE Mission to host high-level meeting of expert working groups of the sides to the Transdniestrian conflict

The OSCE Mission to Moldova will host a meeting of the co-chairs of the expert working groups representing the sides to the Transdniestrian conflict on Monday, 19 March, at the OSCE Office in Tiraspol. Participants of the 5+2 format will also attend the meeting.

The participants will discuss plans for the expert working groups with a view to establishing a regular rhythm for holding meetings, as stipulated by the rules of procedure of the working groups signed by the sides in Bad Reichenhall in September 2011.

The expert working groups were created in 2008 to address practical issues related to people’s daily lives on both banks of the Dniestr/Nistru River. The OSCE Mission facilitates these meetings as part of efforts to promote confidence-building measures.

The 5+2 format includes representatives of the sides, mediators and observers in the negotiation process – Moldova , Transdniestria, the OSCE, the Russian Federation , Ukraine , the US and the EU. Official negotiations were resumed in November 2011 following a hiatus of almost six years.
