PM Victor Ponta said on Tuesday that Romania's Government is pleading to the EU Commission to adopt the decision on lifting visa requirements for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
'Romania has as a strategic objective, the adoption of the decision on joining the Schengen space, but you'll have in me the most determined advocate for the lifting the visa requirements for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. We were also experiencing what it meant waiting for visa to be allowed to travel to Europe. It will be done everything what it depends on me and on the Government so that the EU Commission should make a favourable decision on lifting the visa requirements for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, PM Ponta told his Moldovan counterpart Vlad Filat during a videoconference.
PM Filat stressed that the vital goal of the Republic of Moldova is the liberalization of the visa regime, as soon as possible.
'During this available short time span that we have had, we proved we had the required capability to assume important efforts, but at the same time, we were proved that without our partners' support it was very hard that important beginnings for the Republic of Moldova should materialize,' Moldovan Premier stressed.
