PM Ponta to visit Chisinau

Romania's Prime Minister Victor Ponta will be paying a working visit today to Chisinau, at the invitation of his Moldovan counterpart Vlad Filat.

The Romanian Government reports in a press release that talks between the two prime ministers will focus on an analysis of the latest developments in strategic cooperation projects, with special emphasis on energy interconnection and infrastructure, both of which have a major impact on Moldova's rapprochement to the European Union.

In the context of the joint strategic objective of Moldova's accession to the European Union, other priorities of the bilateral agenda meant to support Moldova's European journey will be agreed upon.

The visit is part of the schedule of high-level bilateral political consultations and are seen as an important moment in the current stage of consolidation of the partnership between Romania and Moldova.

The schedule of the meeting comprises official meetings with Moldova's Prime Minister Vlad Filat, Moldova's President Nicolae Timofti, Chairman of Moldova's Parliament Marian Lupu and leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu. Accompanying Ponta on his visit will be a delegation of ministers that will discuss with their Moldovan counterparts sectoral cooperation projects conducted under the action plan for the enforcement of a joint declaration instituting a strategic partnership between Romania and Moldova for Moldova's European integration.
