U.S. Embassy Welcomes End of Jackson-Vanik and Encourages Moldova to Improve Transparency in Business and Investment Climate

U.S. Embassy Welcomes End of Jackson-Vanik and Encourages Moldova to Improve Transparency in Business and Investment Climate

The passage of legislation to end the application of the Jackson-Vanik amendment to Moldova is a welcome step in strengthening trade relations between the U.S. and Moldova.  To strengthen our bilateral trade relationship to the benefit of U.S., Moldovan and international companies, the Government of Moldova must create a supportive and transparent business and investment climate in Moldova.

The Embassy commends efforts by Moldovan authorities to fight corruption, but also stresses the importance of a transparent tax, legal and regulatory framework that welcomes business partners who invest in Moldova's future economic growth.  As the United States implements legislation that lifts the application of Jackson-Vanik provisions, the Embassy will continue to support ongoing efforts to improve the lives of all citizens of Moldova.
