The Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Ambassador Jennifer Brush, welcomed today’s news that Alexandru Coliban has been released from a Transdniestrian prison.
He was sentenced in 2011 by the Transdniestrian authorities to 2.5 years on defamation charges. The case has been closely monitored by the OSCE Mission and discussed on several occasions with the Transdniestrian authorities. Mission representatives also visited Mr. Coliban in prison.
"I welcome this important and positive gesture by the Transdniestrian authorities,” Brush said. “This is indeed very good news for all, especially for his family.”
