Ambassador Moser Congratulates Mayor of Taraclia on Improvements in Public Services

Ambassador William H. Moser attended a public asset management training organized for representatives of local administrations of 20 towns in Moldova.  This training session was part of the broader Excellence in Municipal Management (EMM) Program funded by the United States Government.  As part of the event, Mayor Sergei Filippov of Taraclia presented the successes achieved in Taraclia due to the improved asset management system.

The Ambassador awarded the Mayor Filippov a certificate of recognition for displaying outstanding leadership in implementing new procedures and concepts in public asset management.  Ambassador Moser said: “As a result of his efforts, resources to meet the needs of the citizens of Taraclia were considerably increased.  These accomplishments serve as an excellent example to other mayors throughout Moldova of what can be accomplished through hard work, determined leadership, and the application of principles learned in the Excellence in Municipal Management program.”

Asset management technical assistance is part of the USAID Local Government Support Project (LGSP) and is meant to assist local governments to design and implement policies and procedures that contribute to good governance.
