The parliament ratified the Moldova-European Union Association Agreement today. The document was backed with the vote of 59 Liberal Democratic, Democratic, Liberal Reformists, and Liberal MPs and non-affiliated lawmakers Mihai Godea and Iurie Bolboceanu. The MPs of the Party of Communists walked out of the session hall, except Grigore Petrenco. Latter and other three Socialist lawmakers voted against it. The vote was nominal.
Attending the parliament’s meeting were President Nicolae Timofti, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, as well as former Moldovan presidents Mircea Snegur and Petru Lucinschi.
Thousands of people, found outside the parliament to back Moldova’s European path, watched the agreement’s ratification.
The document is also to be ratified by the parliaments of those 28 EU member states. The Association Agreement, which includes the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, was signed in Brussels on 27 June. Moldpres
