The Government could decide in the coming weeks on the disbursement of the first loan tranche to the Republic of Moldova, Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos announced.
"On the sidelines of the meeting, I had a bilateral talk with President Timofti in which we discussed the stage of our relations with the Republic of Moldova and mostly the preparation of the grant of the first loan tranche. (...) We keep contact with the Government of the Republic of Moldova. In the coming weeks, once we have the briefing on the reform measures assumed by the Moldovan Government, we shall be able to make the decision, as talks with the International Monetary Fund which, I understand, is preparing a mission to the Republic of Moldova to start possible negotiations for a loan agreement, also make progress. Therefore we are in line with what has been initially agreed," Ciolos said on Wednesday at the end of an official lunch extended by Bulgaria's President Rosen Plevneliev in honour of the participants in the South-East European Cooperation Process (CEECP) Summit held in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Ciolos said that he told Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti that the topic of the cooperation with the Republic of Moldova was also discussed with US Vice President Joe Biden on the occasion of the Romanian PM's recent visit to the USA. Agerpres
