Moldova and Russia to sign cooperation accord

Prime ministers of Moldova and Russia are planning to sign an economic cooperation program for 2009-2020 in the middle of November 2008. According to Moldova's cabinet, the document is to be signed during Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's visit to Chisinau scheduled for November 13-14 and related to his participation in the meeting with heads of governments of the CIS member states. The term of the previous cooperation program (for 1999-2008) expires this year.

The document is projected to promote further mutually beneficial economic, scientific and technical relations between the two countries, as well as an increase in trade, among other things. Russia and Moldova are also poised to cooperate in the financial, agricultural, transportation, tourism and other sectors.

The implementation of the program will be supervised by an intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
